Virtual Worlds:
A Diary
Unrealistic, physical worlds, suffering, sickness, mental health issues, and family member treatment. It is a part of life.
Virtual Worlds:
A Diary
“There’s stuff you can’t do in real life. For instance: you don’t need brushes, you don’t need unhealthy sprays. You can always change background colors in a split second. Copy or delete things, duplicate details or patterns, inverse the painting, and so on.”
Virtual Worlds:
A Diary
Gabriëlla transforms emotions and atmospheres into colours. It's her way of preserving everyday impressions and memories in her Virtual World drawings. Finding patterns as she creates her virtual worlds.
Ever since Gabriëlla discovered computer paint software, she sometimes uses her computer as an artistic diary, as a part of her Virtual World series. Since memory is often personal and always faulty.
Gabriëlla uses a great deal of freedom in this series of works, which at times seems unlikely or imperfect, and often childlike. The naturalness of the work adds to its appeal.
